The Grade I listed Theatre Royal open in February 1837 and remains one of the most historic and cultural landmarks in England. The Theatre Royal has a rich 170 year history, being one of the most famous theatres in the country having played host to the top names in music, drama, dance and comedy.
The newly restored Theatre Royal has been returned to its pre-WWI splendor and remains a poignant figurehead of culture and the arts in Newcastle and the north east of England. The theatre presents over 380 performances to over 300,000 people each year and is the regional home of the Royal Shakespeare Company, the National Theatre, Opera North and Rambert Dance Company.
The Threatre Royal’s location in England, has made it an important date in the touring calendar of the world’s leading theatre companies; performing some of the biggest and brightest West End musicals.

You can buy or collect tickets from the Box Office, which is open Monday to Saturday, 9am – 8pm. On Sundays and Bank Holidays it is open from 2 hours before a performance.
